This function will provide for an even more contained experience on the app. Starting this week, turning the search option off within the app will limit the channels children can access to a roster that has been verified by the YouTube Kids team.

Facebook Product Manager Tarunya Govindarajan announced the feature in a blog post, and recommended that parents set boundaries and lay out ground rules for their children's tech use.

Since the app was released parents have blocked and flagged thousands of videos for being "fake" copies of their kids' favorite cartoon characters.

Facebook Messenger Kids is getting a new feature called "Sleep Mode".

That's right. A mom or dad will be able to sit down and single out as watchable the specific videos their kids can view. This will allow parents to specifically handpick every video and channel that will be available to their child within the app. YouTube Kids is also launching an improved search-off control. Moreover, the app allows Parents to add or delete contacts, and sends them notifications if their children report or block anyone they have been chatting with. The new "sleep mode" feature will give the parents the ability to set designated daily "off times" when Messenger Kids will go to sleep.

Since its launch in December 2017, Messenger Kids is facing widespread criticism for encouraging children to join social media. Tap on the child's name, and then on "Sleep Mode" in the App Controls section. You can set different times for weekdays versus weekends.

Meanwhile, Parent-approved Content is a more personalised feature that allows users to hand-pick videos from the YouTube Kids app. In January, a group of 20 organizations including the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood, ACLU and Parents Across America signed an open letter to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg calling the app "irresponsible" and urging him to discontinue it.

This is what kids see when the app is in "sleep mode". Now, the Messenger Kids has received a new feature called Sleep Mode. Messenger Kids application is absolutely for free and you can download the app for both, iOS and Android platform for free.
