Brad Marchand enrages Lightning with lick, low bridge

Tongue in cheek NHL player Marchand licks opponent on ice... again

As Brad Marchand continues tongue lashing his opponents, his latest victim says it's time the Bruins agitator was penalized for his actions. This second incident has gotten the league's attention as Executive Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell has put Marchand on notice. Ryan Callahan off the ice with a low bridge hit along the boards in the second period of Game 4 Friday night, and when Callahan confronted him later on, shoving him in the face, Marchand attempted to press his face - and tongue - against Callahan's face.

"Well, he punched me four times in the face, so, you know, he just kept getting close", Marchand said regarding the incident.

In Game 1 of Boston's first-round series against the Maple Leafs, Marchand licked the neck of Toronto forward Leo Komarov. Like I said, I'm just surprised that something isn't done. I don't know if there is discipline for spitting in someone's face.

Marchand didn't seem to think too much of the play, but the action was criticized by Callahan after the game.

Marchand was suspended five games for elbowing New Jersey Devils forward Marcus Johansson on January 23, and was fined $5,000 for cross-checking Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Andrew McDonald on April 1.

At the time, reports said the NHL gave Marchand a tongue-lashing for the outburst, but the league later shot down those claims. "I don't get it. But to me it's worse, if not the same".

"All I'm going to say is there's absolutely no place in our game for that, " Lightning coach Jon Cooper said after Friday night's game. "There's just no place in the game for that". I don't. How would you feel if I just walked over to you right now and just gave you one big lick right on the chin all the way up?
