Radar reveals North Korea's nuclear test moved a mountain

North Korean mountain

As the summit between President Trump and the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is set for June 12th in Singapore, the administration released some details of what it is offering to the Communist regime in exchange for denuclearizing.

For about 70 years since the Korean War, the USA and North Korea have been hostile to one another.

"This study demonstrates the capability of spaceborne remote sensing to help characterize large underground nuclear tests, if any, in the future", says Wang.

It also said North Korea will provide all global journalists with charter flights from Beijing to North Korea's Wonsan, and from there, they will be offered a special charter train to Pyunggye-ri.

Hardliners in the North are believed to see possession of a nuclear weapon as a guarantee against US-led efforts to topple Kim's regime. "A big undertaking for sure but one that Chairman Kim and I had the opportunity to have a good sound discussion on, so that I think we have a pretty good understanding between our two countries about what the shared objectives are".

But North Korea and global inspectors might not agree on this option, because the process would require longer period of work and the presence of numerous experts.

North Korea would have to provide details about its nuclear facilities before the worldwide community could even develop a plan to dismantle the country's program.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) announced that it will hold a ceremony for the dismantling of its nuclear test site on May 23-25, state media said Saturday.

Kim has expressed a commitment to the "complete denuclearization" of the Korean Peninsula, although there are still questions about his sincerity given North Korea's tendency to fail to follow through on its commitments.

One week before the inter-Korean summit on April 27, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un announced plans to dismantle the nuclear test site.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in his inaugural address on May 2 insisted on the "permanent" as well as verifiable and irreversible dismantling of North Korea's weapons of mass destruction.

Much of this range would be far higher than officials from the United States and South Korea estimate.

Pompeo said Friday the United States aspires to have North Korea as a "close partner" and not an enemy, noting that the US has often in history become good friends with former adversaries.

Most recently, there has been a series of reports suggesting that North Korea has been taking initial steps to close down the Punggye-ri site.

An example of a country that accepted US economic help is Japan after World War II, which was able to recover after losing the war.

As global relations with isolated North Korea have thawed, Ojea Quintana has called for negotiations on its nuclear programme to be accompanied by talks to address alleged torture and political prisoner camps.
