Roseanne Barr unleashes new tweetstorm hours after United States network axes show

Roseanne Barr's TV show cancelled after Twitter race row

In a tweet, the Rev. Al Sharpton said Miss Barr's comments were "racist and inexcusable".

United States television star Roseanne Barr has apologised for her racist outburst against a former Barack Obama aide, claiming she believed the target of her abuse was white.

"Look at Roseanne-I called her yesterday-look at her ratings, look at her ratings!" said the president saying the show, "was about us [the supporters and the president himself]". "I made a awful mistake wh (ich) cause hundreds of ppl 2 lose their jobs". She later apologized for the racist tweet. "I made a mistake I wish I hadn't but.don't defend it please". "I went 2 far & do not want it defended- it was egregious Indefensible".

Responding to a fan on Twitter, she said she believed the show was axed because of a threatened boycott of the show's advertisers.

Barr was resoundingly condemned Tuesday, including from many who helped make her show successful. "I honestly thought she was Jewish and Persian-ignorant of me for sure, but.I did". So apparently Roseanne's defense is that she knew nothing about the person she was joking about. Here, Barr is pictured attending the premiere of ABC's "Roseanne" at Walt Disney Studio Lot on March 23, in Burbank, California.

Earlier on Tuesday she retweeted a post in support of Tommy Robinson, the right-wing activist and former leader of the English Defence League.

She also fired back at Michael Fishman and Sara Gilbert's statements.

"I am hurt, embarrassed, and disappointed", Miss Kenney tweeted. "You throw me under the bus. nice!"

But cancelling "Roseanne" is "like taking off "All in the Family" or "I Love Lucy" or Andy Griffith at their zenith", he said.

In another tweet: "As I called my manager to quit working on Roseanne, I was told it was cancelled. She's distancing herself from me and my tweet-she has to".

Comedian Wanda Sykes, who had been a consulting producer on the show, tweeted that she would not return to the program. The backlash on Twitter followed nearly immediately.

Barr served as a star and executive producer on the ABC show, which was a ratings phenomenon when it returned to United States television earlier this year for a 10th series, after its original run came to an end in May 1997.

He continued by asking viewers to "stop pretending" that individual examples of racism are just isolated incidents, and added, "We have to stop pretending that this president has nothing to do with it, that he's not emboldening racists and racism and giving them a platform and making it okay". "I cracked & made a stupid insensitive joke-it's my fault".

Barr, who has since apologized to Jarrett on Twitter, is facing intense backlash for her comments.

She followed it up with an apology that read, "I apologise to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans".

Barr apologized to Jarrett, who is African American and was born in Iran to American parents, saying "I am truly sorry-my whole life has been about fighting racism".

Ms. Dungey grew up in Sacramento - her sister is the actress Merrin Dungey, known for her TV work on "The King of Queens" and "Alias" - and graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she studied film and television. "Forgive me - my joke was in bad taste", she tweeted.
