Sir Alex Ferguson "out of coma, talking to family"

Sir Alex Ferguson out of a coma after surgery on brain haemorrhage

The legendary football manager underwent surgery this weekend after collapsing from what would emerge to be a brain haemorrhage.

Wales manager Ryan Giggs says he is praying that his former club manager Sir Alex Ferguson can recover from a brain haemorrhage.

It is claimed that the 76-year-old's response to treatment has pleased doctors at the Salford Royal Hospital, although they still claim that the Scot will face a long road to recovery.

United defender Phil Jones is also positive on Ferguson's chances of making a full recovery, despite admitting to being "devastated" by the news of his ill health.

"As well as being uppermost in the thoughts of our own players, past and present, Sir Alex has been the subject of many warm and touching comments from other clubs, governing bodies and individuals in the lovely game". I know he has that fight in him.

Goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, who was part of United's treble-winning team in 1999, posted: "Please Be strong Win this one", and Ashley Young, whom Ferguson brought to Old Trafford in 2011, spoke of his shock.

Although no official updates have been provided since, the Daily Mail have provided uplifting news that he is now out of a coma and is "sitting up talking and asking about his results" after citing friends of Ferguson.

'But Sir Alex needs plenty of rest and will have to follow his consultant's strict instructions to recover fully'.

Ferguson retired a champion in 2013, lifting the Premier League trophy for a 13th time to take the club's haul of English championship crowns to a record 20. But I gather that the operation has been a success. When you're young it's nice to be linked with the biggest clubs in the world.

'I'm hoping he pulls through for a full recovery and my best wishes go out to all his family'. This circumstance has had a huge impact on United, as you can imagine.

"I've never been coached by him, unfortunately, yet I know well his incomparable legacy on this club".

Words of support poured in from the legions of fans and former players. "I've got mad respect for him". "He told me he's doing a lot of exercise, he looked very happy". "Wish him all the very best".
