Trump changes story on Stormy Daniels hush money, denies affair

Questions raised by Giuliani comments on Stormy payment

President Donald Trump's top personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, said "we don't have to" comply with a subpoena from Robert Mueller's special counsel investigation and left open the possibility that Michael Cohen may have made payments to other women on behalf of Trump. The adult film actress, who is now suing Trump and Cohen over an NDA regarding an alleged affair with the then-real estate mogul as well as defamation, has been a central figure in numerous latest national headlines, as her allegations against the POTUS and Cohen have ripple effects in the justice system.

Avenatti also spoke to ABC, calling Giuliani's interview "an absolute, unmitigated disaster for Rudy Giuliani and the president, a train wreck". At one point during the interview, for no reason whatsoever, Rudy Giuliani chose to issue a warning to Robert Mueller, the special prosecutor, to stay the hell away from Ivanka Trump.

Giuliani said he first made Trump aware of the payment shortly after joining the case but now says he doesn't know when Trump knew about it. Trump said Saturday that Giuliani needed to "get his facts straight" but insisted they weren't changing their story. "I'd be living in some kind of unreal fantasy world where everyone tells the truth", Giuliani said.

"Not after the way they've acted", he said.

In a March interview on CBS' "60 Minutes", Clifford alleged she had been threatened to keep quiet about her relationship with Trump.

Asked if Cohen made other payments like the one he made to Daniels, Conway replied: "No, none that I would be aware of". Most people of means, most people of wealth and celebrity, they don't have extramarital affair slush funds and the suggestion is insulting.

Then, "SNL's" Giuliani - played by cast member Kate McKinnon, who also regularly impersonates Hillary Clinton, Jeff Sessions, Kellyanne Conway and other political figures - picks up the phone right in the middle of a live television interview on Fox News. "And we may actually work things out with Bob Mueller, because working with him directly is good", Giuliani said.

President Trump knew about his attorney Michael Cohen's hush money payment to Stormy Daniels several months before he denied any knowledge of it in April, according to two people familiar with the arrangement.

She has also filed defamation suits against Mr Trump and Cohen. Sometimes the point is made specifically about people who voted for Trump. Yet there Giuliani was Sunday morning, speaking on ABC News's "This Week" with host George Stephanopolous.

"This is more rumour than it is anything else", Mr Giuliani said on Sunday regarding the President's knowledge of the payment.

"He didn't know about the specifics of it, as far as I know", he said. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment. "And Jay [Sekulow] and I said to ourselves, 'My goodness, I hope we get the chance to tell him the risks that he's taking.' So he may testify". And either these payments-whoever and wherever they came from- were structured to avoid campaign finance law violations, or they were "funneled", in Giuliani's word, through a law firm, which made them, in his opinion, legal.
