On yer bike! Deadline for unemployed millennial ordered out of parents' home

Man, 30, ordered evicted from parents’ home by New York judge feels ‘great’ to be leaving

The 30-year-old man who was ordered by a judge to move out of his parents home has finally done so.

According to the court's order, Rotondo must be out of his parents' home by noon on Friday.

According to local media, he left a couple of hours before a midday deadline set by a judge last week.

Rotondo tells TMZ. he called the cops on his father in the midst of the moving process because his dad refused to hand over some toys he wanted to pack for his child - yes, Michael has a son. His father found and retrieved the toy building blocks, handing them over at some point after officers arrived, and that whole episode certainly sounds like a productive and necessary use of police time.

When he was before Judge Donald Greenwood on May 22, he argued that the notices did not provide him with a "reasonable amount of time" to leave, citing a common-law requirement.

On Friday, Rotondo left his parents' home about 9:30 a.m. ET. "While the police were there, the Legos were located and there was no further incident".

The Rotondos' house in Camillus, N.Y., where Michael Rotondo, 30, was evicted at the request of his parents. "I don't have to guess what's behind door number one". He said he didn't understand why his parents were forcing him out, because he wasn't getting in their way and he paid for his own food and did his own laundry.

He told USA Today he's "glad to be out of this place" and said he would never talk to his parents again.

As for his destination, Rotondo said he planned to spend the next week at an Airbnb in Syracuse. The toys, Rotondo said, were for his son, whom he lost custody of a year ago.

Rotondo said he knew the day would eventually come when he would move out and he felt "great". Asked if that marks a dramatic change in his thinking, given his recent hard-fought court battle, Rotondo answered succinctly.
