The Incredibles 2 has absolutely destroyed a huge box office record

Disney, however, is being a bit more cautious and estimating Incredibles 2 will earn around $160-170 million. The sequel to the popular 2004 computer animated film soared past the record for biggest animated film opening in box office history by $45 million.

Fellow Pixar sequel Finding Dory now holds the title with $135 million.

"You don't get to this level of opening without appealing to everyone whether you're a fan of animation, superheroes or just out to have a good time and want to see a good movie", said Cathleen Taff, the head of distribution for Walt Disney Studios.

Brad Bird returns to direct Incredibles 2.

Veronica writes that "Incredibles 2" is "filled with tons of strobe/flashing lights", and explained that people with photosensitive epilepsy aren't the only ones who could be affected - those who suffer from migraines, vision impairments, seizure conditions, vertigo (specifically flicker vertigo), autism, ADHD, and PTSD could also experience a reaction to the images.

Landing in second place is "Ocean's 8", which picked up an additional $19.5 million domestically in its second weekend, for a domestic total of $79 million.

Fourth place went to "Solo: A Star Wars Story", starring Alden Ehrenreich as a young version of the swashbuckling space pilot first played by Harrison Ford. Sony's Superfly, which opened on Wednesday, is expected to bring in up to $8 million for its five-day opening. Playing in 503 locations, the long-delayed film which boasts a 0 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, took in $1.7 million.

Shortly after the sequel hit theaters Friday, several Twitter users issued warnings about a number of scenes that were potentially unsafe for moviegoers with certain medical conditions. Final domestic figures will be released Monday.
