Celebrities offer Demi Lovato support after reports of hospitalization for apparent overdose

Demi Lovato boyfriend

Pop star Demi Lovato was hospitalised on Tuesday in Los Angeles after a suspected heroin overdose.

The news came about a month after Lovato released a song called Sober, in which she alludes to relapsing from sobriety.

A spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department said they received a call at 11.22am for an "medical emergency" and took a 25-year-old woman from a property in Hollywood to a local hospital.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that as no drugs were seized at the singer's home and they can not determine if Lovato was in the possession of illegal substances, there will be no criminal investigation. And People reported that a source "close to the singer" said Lovato was in stable condition.

Lovato, who was a child actress on the TV series "Barney & Friends", broke on the scene as a teen on the Disney Channel film "Camp Rock" and the network series "Sonny with a Chance".

In February, Lovato told CBS News that her single, "Tell Me You Love Me" was actually about conquering her addiction as well. "Thank you for your prayers and please continue praying for her full recovery both short and long term".

"But today I'm proud to say I'm living proof that someone can live, love and be well with bipolar disorder when they get the education, support and treatment that they need". "I wanna be a role model but I'm only human".

Lovato was next scheduled to perform on Thursday in Atlantic City, New Jersey, but her appearance has reportedly been canceled.

Demi Lovato opened up about her previous addiction troubles in a 2017 documentary. Before the song's release, many speculated that she may have relapsed after having been sober for six years.

"I went on a bender of like, two months where I was using daily", Lovato said.

Priyanka Chopra is sending her prayers to Demi Lovato who is now in the hospital. "Like all of you I am reeling at the news about Demi. There is no one more honest or courageous than this woman". She needs our prayers and support.

Ellen DeGeneres tweeted that "it breaks my heart that she is going through this".
