Colbert Predicts Giuliani's Next Trump Defense: 'Since When Are Crimes Illegal?'

CNN Legal Analyst: I Would Be Surprised If Mueller ‘Didn’t Conclude the President Obstructed Justice’

Legal experts say Giuliani and Trump have a point: there is no federal law or statue making campaign collusion a crime.

"Usually you don't discuss joint defense agreements, but i think it's obvious there's been so much public discussion that there isn't one right now", Giuliani said.

The president's comments in a morning tweet appeared created to address widespread confusion over Giuliani's intentions during cable television appearances on Monday.

In an abrupt departure from his statements just four days ago, Giuliani told CNN's Alisyn Camerota Monday that "nobody can be sure of anything" when she asked how he could be sure that Trump did not know about the meeting beforehand.

"In several interviews on Monday, Giuliani asserted that collusion is not a crime". "The President didn't hack". "He didn't pay them for hacking".

Appearing on Fox News' Hannity, Giuliani said a potential Trump-Mueller interview is "highly unlikely" because he would be walking into a perjury trap.

Former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen has said he'd be willing to go on the record with the special counsel and say the president did indeed know about the meeting.

The central piece of evidence regards former FBI Director James Comey's claim that Trump had asked him to drop the FBI's case into former national security adviser Michael Flynn, whom Trump had fired in early 2017 after he lied to the FBI about his conversations with then-Russian ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak during the presidential transition period after the 2016 election.

"Note to Giuliani: Look it up-Colluding to violate the law is conspiracy", Sen.

Though the article is roughly a decade old, Democrats have seized on it, raising questions about Judge Kavanaugh's impartiality as Mr. Trump's campaign is under investigation by Mr. Mueller for allegedly colluding with Russians.

"Obstructing Justice also is criminal", Blumenthal wrote.

Trump unleashed a new broadside against Mueller and his investigation late Sunday, accusing the prosecutor of undisclosed "conflicts of interest" involving him, "including the fact that we had a very nasty & contentious business relationship".

Giuliani told USAToday that he expects a final report to be issued by Mueller and his team prior to September 1, and added, that in his opinion, Mueller is "writing the report as we speak". "They change nearly by the hour".
