Investigators Document One Case Of Sexual Misconduct By Late OSU Physician

Ohio State University Investigators Interview Jim Jordan

More than 100 former Ohio State students have come forward with sexual misconduct allegations against a former team doctor, the school announced on Friday.

Jordan was recently interviewed by lawyers who are looking into allegations of rampant, well-known sexual abuse by the wrestling team's doctor.

In an interview with Fox News late Thursday morning the Ohio Congressman called the men he formerly mentored - many of whom say they consider him a friend and even say they voted for him - liars.

Jordan, now a powerful OH congressman, was an assistant wrestling coach at the university at the time, and questions have emerged recently about whether he knew the alleged abuse was happening. But the speaker said last week that he didn't think that the House Ethics Committee should look into the allegations, saying the activity in question occurred decades before Mr. Jordan took office.

The suit, filed Monday in federal district court in Columbus, accuses Ohio State of Title IX and civil rights violations when it failed to prevent repeated sexual assaults, abuse and molestation by Strauss.

"We remain steadfastly committed to uncovering the truth", he added. The team's former doctor, Richard Strauss, is accused of showering with and inappropriately touching players.

An Ohio State spokesperson declined comment when reached by College Football Talk, but said head coach Urban Meyer is aware of the situation and that the school will issue a statement at some point soon.

Strauss made a hernia check part of every exam, Sartori and other former athletes said, sometimes lingering a little too long on male athletes' genital area. He committed suicide in 2005 at the age of 67.

The lawsuit filed Monday seeks compensation for damages in an amount to be determined at trial.

The revelations come less than a week after five former wrestlers filed a pair of lawsuits claiming that repeated sexual abuse complaints had been snubbed by university officials. They include students who, at the time, were varsity players in 14 sports and patients of Student Health Services.

Former student Steve Snyder-Hill says OSU kept records of his 1995 complaint.

"Mulvin said Strauss physically examined his genitals for approximately 20 minutes, before finally asking him, "'does this thing work?' And I said 'yeah it works for my girlfriend'".

"Once they wrote me back and said that, then I was on fire, because then, I was just like, I want to validate every single person it happened to, because it was real and it happened to me", he told CBS Columbus affiliate WBNS.

Before the Ohio Republican and founder of the conservative House Freedom Caucus entered politics he was an assistant wrestling coach at OSU from 1986 to 1994.
