WJZ's Meg McNamara said temperatures across Maryland were in the low- to mid-90s Saturday, and it will only get hotter Sunday.

There will be little relief from the heat wave even at night. A heat advisory is issued when Heat Indices are expected to reach near 105° for several hours.

Risky heat in the Midwest and Northeast is prompting multiple warnings and watches. Temperatures feel roughly 10 degrees warmer when the heat index is factored in.

New York City is forecast to hit 98 degrees today.

The warmest levels in northeast OH are expected Sunday, making another heat advisory "likely", says the NWS.

"A significant heat event has been building and will be impacting the Northeast for the next 5 to 6 days". Highs are expected to climb to near 90, and by the evening for the fireworks displays, temperatures will likely be in the low to mid 80s.

For DC, a Heat Emergency Plan is now in effect through July 2, as temperatures and heat index values will soar into mid-to-upper 90s.

On Sunday, temperatures in parts of NY and CT, were forecast to hit up to 100 degrees but appeared to settle in the high and mid-90s by the late afternoon.

In parts of OH, where temperatures were expected to reach the mid-90s, July 4th firework shows planned for Saturday were canceled because of the extreme heat. Shortly after noon Saturday, Chicago O'Hare had a temperature of 90 degrees and heat index of 100 degrees, while Chicago Midway had a temperature of 91 degrees and heat index of 105 degrees.

Storms are still moving through parts of the Midwest Sunday morning, with additional flash flooding possible.

A cold front will push across Wisconsin Sunday afternoon and evening bringing a chance for thunderstorms.

Strong storms are moving into the Midwest on Sunday.

We're mostly sunny and HOT on Sunday with highs in the mid/upper 90s near 100°F.
