Jeremy Lin traded to Hawks

Jeremy Lin was traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday night. More

Lin, who turns 30 next month, was the first U.S. player of Chinese or Taiwan heritage to play in the National Basketball Association when he joined the Golden State Warriors in 2010.

It looks like Dennis Schroder's days in Atlanta are numbered, as the Hawks went out and traded for veteran point guard Jeremy Lin last night, just weeks after drafting point guard Trae Young with the fifth overall pick in the NBA Draft.

The Nets are at the center of two trades as they will send Jeremy Lin to the Hawks and move Isaiah Whitehead to the Nuggets in exchange for Kenneth Faried, Darrell Arthur, a 2019 protected first-round pick and a future second-round pick, Adrian Wojnarowksi of ESPN.com reports.

After being released in December 2011 by Golden State, Lin was claimed by the Knicks for a reserve role and pondered ending his National Basketball Association career if released.

Lin has a year left on his contract, and the trade ends his injury-plagued stint in Brooklyn.

Whitehead also saw little action throughout the 2017-18 season as he only played 11.3 minutes per game in 16 outings with the Nets.

The "Lin-sanity" spell saw last-second game-winning shots and 30-point efforts with stars Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire sidelined. During the 2016-17 campaign, Lin averaged 14.5 points and 5.1 assists for the Nets.

Spencer Dinwiddie stepped in while Lin was out and became one of the NBA's most improved players.
