Roma agree deal to sign Brazilian winger Malcom from Bordeaux

Monchi apologises to Roma fans after Malcom deal collapses

The club tweeted: "AS Roma can confirm that the club has reached an agreement with FC Girondins de Bordeaux for the transfer of Malcom, subject to the player completing a medical and agreeing personal terms".

Barcelona announce that they signed Bordeaux winger Malcom on a five-year contract. The operation will cost 41 million euros and 1 million in variables.

Bordeaux refused to sell Malcom in the January transfer window, with Gus Poyet announcing he would not have taken the manager's job without assurances the forward would remain until at least the end of the season.

Malcom will undergo a medical in Barcelona on Wednesday ahead of his presentation before flying out to the United States to join up with his new teammates.

Roma have rekindled their interest in Chelsea linked winger Leon Bailey after losing out on Malcom to Barcelona this summer.

He scored 12 goals in 35 league games for Bordeaux last season. He stands out due to his electrifying pace and his technique with the ball at his feet.

His signing leaves Ernesto Valverde's side well stocked across the forward line with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele and now Malcom all competing for a place in the attack.

Barcelona have already signed Clement Lenglet and Arthur this summer to add to their title winning squad from last season but have lost Paulinho and Andres Iniesta from their first team.
