Samsung phones reportedly sending photos to contacts without permission

Some Samsung users say their phones randomly sent

One small example of that is a new Samsung phone bug that texts the user's photographs to random people in their contacts lists without them knowing it. Samsung users have reported about the problem on the company's official forums, on Reddit, etc. Users only find out the photos have been sent when they're asked about it. Samsung has said it's now looking into the problem.

Speaking to Gizmodo, Samsung said it was aware of the issue and its technical teams were looking into it. According to the The Verge, Samsung is asking users to call the company's helpline if they are facing the problem.

Samsung's top-tier are among the best to still offer expandable storage as a standard feature, with the Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9 Plus, and the Note 8 all sporting an optional microSD slot.

One user wrote on Reddit that his Galaxy S9+ send his entire photo gallery to his girlfriend, while he was sleeping at night.

'However, there was record of it on TMobile logs. Once again, this was all on a Galaxy S9 on T-Mobile - not on a Galaxy S7 edge that DrDeLaHoya also had - with only the recent RCS upgrade on the Samsung Messages app.

Deny storage permissions for Samsung Messages in the Settings, and keep in mind to continue to deny them if you open the app! The issue is from Samsung's end as T-Mobile has confirmed its not an issue from its end.

Affected users are encouraged to contact Samsung directly until a fix is issued. There are plenty of other SMS apps available in the Play Store like ChompSMS, Textra, or even Google's own Android Messages app which offer far greater functionality than Samsung's stock messaging app.

KitGuru Says: This is an bad bug to have in your Messaging app, I think it's a nightmare scenario for many people just to have their images dumped to a random contact.
