Diversified Restaurant (SAUC) against Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG) Head to Head Report

Another Chipotle Is Closed After Customers Complain of Getting Sick

"Based on the food protection procedures followed by the facility, the inspection team found no reason for the facility to not reopen".

"The local health department has informed us of two customer complaints of illness at one restaurant in Powell", the company's chief communications officer, Laurie Schalow, said in a statement Tuesday.

"We take all claims of food safety very seriously and we are now looking into a few reports of illness at our Powell, Ohio restaurant", Chipotle spokeswoman Laurie Schalow told Business Insider.

Chipotle shut down the Powell restaurant on Monday over reports of customer and employee illnesses.

Officials said that an "investigation is ongoing pending lab test results", adding that a "total of 33 stool sample kits were delivered today to persons that reported illness".

Chipotle's stock fell 3.3 percent in after-hours trading on Monday after Business Insider first reported the news.

"Chipotle is a special case, because they were the source of so many cases in such a short amount of time", Ben Chapman, an associate professor and food safety extension specialist at North Carolina State University, told CBS MoneyWatch. "If this story gains traction, it might have more serious implications for the stock".

The Powell outlet said in a phone call that it was working to get the restaurant open by Tuesday afternoon. Given Chipotle Mexican Grill's higher possible upside, analysts clearly believe Chipotle Mexican Grill is more favorable than Diversified Restaurant. Wells Fargo & Company MN now owns 92,320 shares of the restaurant operator's stock valued at $29,830,000 after purchasing an additional 1,907 shares during the period.

Chipotle's stock soared 61% this year through the market close on Monday amid optimism about the appointment of Brian Niccol, the new CEO.
