Newcastle sign Japan's Yoshinori Muto, as Rafa Benitez expresses concerns

Rafa Benítez's angry message to Newcastle United owner

A target man has been imperative for Benitez after the struggles of Islam Slimani last season, and he has finally landed West Brom hitman Rondon after weeks of speculation.

Ironically, Newcastle's biggest signing of the summer was the £9.5m capture of Yoshinori Muto, though he may not fit into the starting XI once Salomon Rondon's imminent loan move is completed.

Newcastle United have bolstered their attack with the addition of Japan global Yoshinori Muto.

With the club's owner Mike Ashley actively looking to sell the club, it is believed that he has no desire to invest the kind of money into the team's recruitment that many of Newcastle United's rivals are spending.

He said: "The manager attracted me".

Newcastle have been chasing Rondon all summer but only wanted to take the striker on loan.

Manager: Rafa Benitez - The Uefa Champions League and Championship victor steered Newcastle into the top half despite frustrations in the transfer market. I have a lot of confidence in this group of players but they know we have to do something if we want to improve the competition between players. "When things are not going well off the pitch you can see a reflection on the pitch", said Benitez following Wednesday's 4-0 friendly defeat at Braga in northern Portugal.

Rondón said: "The clubs were talking for a long time and now I'm focused on the season to help my team mates to get the points to do well this season".

Newcastle United risk a Premier League fine unless a dispute over players' bonuses is resolved before their opening day fixture with Tottenham Hotspur.
