Trump Insults Lebron James' Intelligence After NBA Star Calls Him Divisive

Donald Trump takes shot at LeBron James

The I Promise School is the culmination of almost a decade of work by James' foundation, with its focus on educating children from challenging situations or backgrounds.

But the best laugh was reserved for the man who conducted the LeBron interview, suffering the worst of Trump's Twitter jab.

Trump resorted to childish name-calling in a Friday evening tweet in which he slammed the intelligence of both James and CNN anchor Don Lemon.

Lemon, who conducted the interview with James, also weighed in.

And so, a miffed Trump fired back.

Lemon responded to Trump's tweet on Saturday morning.

"I don't have to tell (asterisk) anyone (asterisk) what LeBron James means to Ohio", Democrat Danny O'Connor tweeted.

The tweet came after James said during the interview that Trump is using sports to try and "divide" the US.

In 2013, Trump said LeBron was "a great player and a great guy".

Instead, the Lakers star retweeted a photo of kids at the I Promise School ― a public school for at-risk kids that LeBron recently opened ― with the comment, "Let's get it kids!"

Indeed, this week's exchange is just the latest in a long-running feud between James and the president. Last September, the National Basketball Association star called Trump a "bum" after he rescinded an invitation to the Golden State Warriors to celebrate their 2017 National Basketball Association championship at the White House. Not one word or follow-up that takes issue with anything either man has actually said. "I don't want my future kids growing up in a world where two Black men, accomplished in their field, are called dumb because they disagree with your views".

When asked what he would say to Trump if they were to sit face-to-face, James said, "I would never sit across from him". I know why. Some of y'all need to start believing what he is showing you.

"Sounds like @FLOTUS had the remote last night".

There was also this exceedingly spicy take from CNN PR.

The tweet from Mr. Trump's official account ended by saying "I like Mike!"
