Arsenal wont prioritise Premier League over Europa League Unai Emery

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has responded to media suggestions of a rift between himself and playmaker Mesut Ozil.

Arsenal manager Emery said he enjoyed a "relaxing" three days with Ozil in training after the player's retirement from global football meant he did not depart with the Germany squad last week.

Things have picked up since though, with Arsenal securing two hard-fought wins over West Ham and Cardiff City as they look to kickstart an assault on the coveted top four. "Here for me it isn't for a lot of the time speaking about what people are telling us", Emery was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. "In this process, we will work, we will help him, give him the possibility on the pitch to be together, to find his qualities for us".

Ozil quit global football so will be well rested heading into the game against the Magpies.

The midfielder was criticised for posing for photographs with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the build-up to the World Cup, which saw 2014 champions Germany knocked out at the group stage. The former German worldwide is one of the best players on the planet when on top form but those moments have been too rare in an Arsenal shirt.

'Benitez was the first of the Spanish coaches to be working here and is very experienced here, ' Emery said. Mesut works very well here. "Mesut, I look at him with the focus totally here".

Unai Emery has urged Arsenal to tie Nacho Monreal down to a new contract in the coming months.

"I am very happy with him because he is 32 years old but I think physically, with his performances with us in matches, he is playing with a very good level".

Emery insists he has had no talks about Gazidis leaving. "I don't know any other news from him".
