Deputy shoots man who fired weapon at California racetrack

Shooting breaks out at California's Del Mar race track

While there were no confirmed reports of additional injuries at the time of publication, TVG confirmed that all of its personnel were safe and accounted for.

San Diego police officers shot a man who pulled a gun and started firing into the air when he found out that evening's Ice Cube Concert was sold out.

Authorities said a man fired his gun near the race track and a deputy returned fire.

The unidentified man was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance, but his condition was not known.

The shooting happened close to an area within the race track where rapper Ice Cube is scheduled to perform a sold out show later on Sunday night.

Commentators could be heard screaming "there's gunfire at the track" as the race took the place.

It has been reported by several local news outlets that a sheriff's deputy was shot but no civilians were injured in the incident. A video of the incident that was posted on Twitter records the sounds of several shots being fired before a man falls to the ground.

No other details were immediately available, and police are yet to release any information on the incident.

We are aware of an ongoing San Diego Sherriff's Department investigation into an incident on the Del Mar Fairgrounds today in advance of a concert featuring the artist Ice Cube.

Following the shooting, the concert moved "forward as planned", the racetrack said. Broadcasters calling the race live reportedly began shouting, "There's gunfire at the track, there's gunfire at the track", before cutting out the audio, The Blast reports.
