First Colin Kaepernick advert for Nike 'to air during National Football League opener'

Colin Kaepernick

Nike is in hot water for their new ad campaign featuring ex-NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

On Wednesday, Nike posted one of it's commercials featuring Kaepernick, called "Dream Crazy".

The Nike swoosh logo and slogan, "Just Do It" appear at the bottom of the photo. The commercial, voiced by the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback is scheduled to air during tomorrow night's National Football League opening game between the Falcons and the Eagles. "I mean, he did lose his job and he stood for something he wanted to stand for", said Funchess.

"If Nike is ashamed of America, we are ashamed of them", College of the Ozarks President Jerry C. Davis said in a statement.

One thing that bothers me is that some people lump together all the athletes involved in these protests. They bother me more than players who make a conscious decision to draw attention to something they think is important.

The ad includes footage of Davies scoring a goal for Canada's men's soccer team as Kaepernick says "if you're born a refugee, don't let it stop you from playing soccer for the national team at age 16".

The tweet inspired more players to kneel, which revived the issue between the players and their rights within the NFL.

Serena Williams, who also stars in Nike's campaign, has vocalized her support of Kaepernick, telling Sporting News "I think every athlete, every human, and definitely every African American should be completely grateful and honored how Colin and Eric [Reid, a safety for the 49ers] are doing so much more for the greater good..."

He was the first to kneel during the national anthem to highlight racial and social injustice.

The ban eventually helped Jordan and Nike, resulting in a billion-dollar partnership as the Air Jordan shoe became one of Nike's most successful items and Jordan became one of the most successful endorsement and promotion properties ever.

Stephen Martin, the owner of Prime Time Sports, said he knows he is jeopardizing his business, as a large part of his inventory is Nike NFL jerseys, according to KRDO. "Even if it means sacrificing everything". "As for me, I support Colin, I support my brother, I support the stance that he's taking".

Kaepernick later filed a lawsuit accusing the league and its coaches of colluding to keep him off the field because of his activism.

John Sweeney, sports communication professor at the University of North Carolina, said the Kaepernick ad was created to provoke people, and in that respect, it succeeded.

The Internet, in classic fashion, is making light of Nike's new campaign.
