Google Chrome launches new design and features - Here they are

The URL standard is universally supported for giving websites addresses but Google's Chrome team wants something easier to understand

Although Google updates Chrome every six weeks, this one's a little bit special, with a completely refreshed look for the browser, including rounded shapes, a fresh color palette, and new icons.

Indeed, the flatter, rounded design looks modern, and makes navigation easier when you have several tabs open.

Along with this updated appearance, Google has now changed the popular search feature from within the address bar. Google says Chrome will soon let you search for files from Google Drive right in the Omnibox soon.

For example, start typing the word weather, or sporting results, and you'll see the results appear right within the bar. For example, if you're a person who loves to have lots of tabs open, you can still do that, but the icons for websites are more clearly visible when you have an vast amount of tabs open. Support for Google's Chrome AutoFill is also improved. In the latter two, you'll notice that Google moved the toolbar to the bottom of the screen, so your thumbs won't have to reach so far to tap navigational commands. With design changes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder to some extent but Google asserts it has simplified the prompts, menus, and even the URLs in your address bar to improve usability. The browser has even received a customizable new tab page, allowing users to change its background, adjust its icons, and more.

The issue was responsibly disclosed to Google's Chromium project (which develops the code for Chrome and other browsers) on March 2nd 2018.

The changes will take place across both desktop and mobile, too, meaning users can expect a consistent experience which is no mean feat given the number of platforms Chrome is now available on.

Now, when you are filling out a form to sign up for an account on a website, Chrome will create a strong, random password for you to use automatically.

Researchers at cybersecurity and penetration testing consultancy SureCloud have uncovered a weakness in the way Google Chrome and Opera browsers, among others, handle saved passwords and how those saved passwords are used to interact with home Wi-Fi routers over unencrypted connections.

I should note that I am able to replicate this behavior on Chrome 69 on a Windows computer but not on a Mac computer. With this release, Google is using the Material Design framework across the desktop, iOS, and Android versions of Chrome. The Chrome 69 for desktop has also enabled the PiP mode by default. On mobile, open Apple App store or Google Play Store to update the app.

There's one more update debuting alongside Chrome 69. This new version can be downloaded from the App Store.
