Le’Veon Bell Seems Rattled By Steelers Teammates Blasting Him Over Holdout

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell hadn't arrived to team meetings on Wednesday morning as his holdout continued

"We know he's one of the best in the business and he helps each week", Roethlisberger said. He'll show up when it starts to matter, they said.

"He f-- us", one veteran player summed it up for ESPN.

Bell has recently been embroiled in contentious contract talks with the Pittsburgh Steelers, even as the 2018-2019 National Football League season gets underway in a matter of hours. Both players ripped Bell publicly (you can read the full comments here and here). Drafted 48th overall in 2013, Bell is a two-time first-team All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler who has racked up almost 8,000 yards from scrimmage and 42 total touchdowns in 62 career games.

Dan (@Dan_Gilliam) - As a Steelers fan I want to win above all. It sucks that he's not here. This team needs to be on the same page but we are still forced to talk about non football issues and not the Cleveland Browns. It doesn't look like he'll be in the game plan at this point.

"Here's a guy who doesn't give a damn", Ramon Foster said.

"I just felt confident that he was gonna come", center Maurkice Pouncey said Wednesday. He has still not signed his $14.5m franchise tag. If he does decide to hold out until that date, Bell will lose slightly more than $8.5 million of his $14.544 million tag.

How does Le'Veon Bell make his money?

They're now letting him know that. Bell's agent Adisa Bakari was interviewed on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Wednesday and hinted at a concern Bell would be overworked this season by the Steelers, which could affect his earning potential when Bell reaches the open market in 2019. You're (Steelers general manager) Kevin Colbert, you're (Steelers coach) Mike Tomlin, and you possibly have a once-in-a-generation player for one more season. "Trust me. We still went out there and did 40 plays in practice and everything was good".

"Stars are made every year, so hopefully it aligns for him", Pouncey said. At the same time, he does not want to get run into the ground in Pittsburgh's offense. "I've got an opportunity for Sunday and I can't wait for it".

The Steelers are not sweating this situation as much many think they should be. "Whether it's someone's first or previous year, none of that should matter". Bell's absence won't change that plan. And the "train" that defensive end Cam Heyward uses as a symbol for the season is getting ready to roll.

"Like I said, we have a lot of weapons", Roethlisberger said. "We'll worry about him in week 2".
