Nintendo Switch Just Outsold Gamecube's Lifetime Sales

By way of The Verge, we now know Nintendo's latest financial data, which includes the new milestone of 22.86 million units sold for the Switch. The Switch's sales figures don't appear to be plateauing at the moment, though admittedly the console will have to do some pretty frantic holiday sales if it wants to meet its projected yearly goal.

Nintendo's quarterly sales growth slowed to 1% year-over-year, which is the worst pace for the company since the Switch launched.

"Sales of other popular titles that were released during previous fiscal years and titles released by other software publishers continued to grow, bringing the total number of million-seller titles during this period to nine", Nintendo said. The company has also sold 111.10 million software units for the Switch. In the case of the Nintendo Switch portable console, the game has been downloaded by almost half of all the brand's now existing Switch users.

Nintendo expects that the releases of "Super Mario Party", which came out earlier this month, but isn't part of the first half of Nintendo's fiscal year, two "Pokemon" titles, and "Super Smash Bros". "The holiday season battle begins now".

Nintendo has previously said it will release another smartphone title, Mario Kart Tours, sometime before April. In May, Pokemon Co. announced it would no longer release games on the handheld device, moving the best-selling franchise to the Switch.
