As the Florida Senate Race Narrows, Nelson and Scott File Lawsuits

Florida Gov. Rick Scott addresses his election night party in Naples Florida where he had declared victory Tuesday over inc

According to the Sun Sentinel, an unusual pattern has emerged in Broward County, where many more people voted in local races than the U.S. Senate race, when the trend is typically the reverse.

A group of about 30 sign-holding Republican protesters gathered outside the office of Broward County Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes, singing "The Star Spangled Banner" and "God Bless America".

Some protesters called for Snipes to be fired. "We believe that at the end of this process that Senator Nelson is going to be declared the victor".

Public officials were also on hand at the demonstration.

As Scott announced his lawsuits, questions began to be asked about ballot papers which did not clearly indicate how to vote in the Senate election. "We are committed to ensuring every single vote in Florida is counted".

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum, who is also the mayor of Tallahassee, had conceded defeat to his Republican opponent Ron DeSantis late Tuesday night.

Rubio also can not explain what the alternative would be to counting the ballots in Broward, if he - in stark contrast to those mischevious Democrats - does want to "make sure every vote is counted". Bucher ran in a special election to replace him and won. "Even if it is a recount, let's recount and be nice about it".

But Snipes attorney said in court Friday that it would be inappropriate for the court to intervene at this time, simply because Scott wants the counting process to be sped up. "You can follow elections nearly in real-time when it's early in-person voting and absentee ballot voting, but for some reason in Broward County, that just doesn't seem to happen".

Senator Marco Rubio, another Florida Republican, has also been an outspoken critic of the recount process, tweeting repeatedly about the controversy and earning Mr Trump's praise. Trump wrote, "As soon as Democrats sent their best Election stealing lawyer, Marc Elias, to Broward County they miraculously started finding Democrat votes".

How is it that election officials keep "finding" new votes that, oh, by the way, help the Democratic candidates?

Elias said it's "not appropriate" for a governor to suggest he's going to use his powers to "interject his law enforcement authority to prevent the counting of ballots that have been legally cast". "Today, it's at 17,000". Mr Gillum trails Mr DeSantis by fewer than 50,000 votes.

Murphy said the closeness of these races should signal the importance of making your voice heard during election time.

Photos shared on Twitter showed that on the ballot papers in Broward county the section where voters could opt for Scott or Nelson was located in the bottom left of the ballot, beneath instructions on how to vote. "She did not abide by the law". Nevertheless, this design issue appears to be one that was specifically anticipated and addressed in the past, but disregarded in Broward County's 2018 ballot. I would wish that they would allow us to continue to count the ballots. Republicans have not cited any evidence to back up their accusations, but both parties have expressed frustration with Broward County, whose beleaguered electoral system has been under scrutiny since ballot confusion played a major role in the 2000 presidential election. Officials said they are looking at voter intent in each provisional ballot.
