Mueller: Women Were Offered Money to Smear Me

Mueller

The FBI is investigating an anonymous woman's claim that she was offered $20,000 to accuse Special Counsel Robert Mueller of sexual assault. Taub told Seven Days on Wednesday that she has never met or spoken to Mueller, who's investigating President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign.

Jacob Wohl a pundit for the homocon site Gateway Pundit, and Jack Burkman, a Newsmax radio/tv personality, attempted to smear Robert Mueller by paying women to make false sexual harassment complaints against him.

This latest - albeit not entirely surprising - twist in the freaky effort to make the allegations against Mueller comes after mysterious claims that there was a payoff scheme to bring forward accusers, as well as the revelation that Wohl - a failed-hedge-fund-manager-turned-pro-Trump-Twitter-personality - had set up a fake private intel firm linked to the effort.

"When we learned last week of allegations that women were offered money to make false claims about the Special Counsel, we immediately referred the matter to the FBI for investigation", spokesman Peter Carr told CNBC in a statement.

Burkman, who previously promoted conspiracy theories involving the 2016 death of Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich, says he and his staff are now vetting additional accusations against Mueller. Many Trump allies have sought to publicly discredit Mueller and the president himself has repeatedly decried the investigation as a "witch hunt". In the video, he said he was working on getting accusers to come forward. The emails stated that Parsons was offered $20,000 plus payment of her credit card debt to accuse Mueller of sexual misconduct and workplace harassment when she was a paralegal at his law firm in 1974. He also promised to reveal new accusations against Mueller at a news conference Thursday.

At least two conservative media personalities appeared linked to an apparent hoax that may have been created to ensnare Washington reporters, if not also cause political damage to Mueller.

A second woman has come forward saying she was offered money to talk about "encounters" she's had with Robert Mueller, in an apparent bid to discredit the USA special counsel charged with investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election. Mueller didn't behave inappropriately, she has reportedly said. That email was reportedly among those referred to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

When contacted by NBC News, Wohl denied all involvement.

"In addition to any civil liability that they might have for a defamation claim, I think that you could make an argument that this is an effort to obstruct justice", said Barbara McQuade, former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of MI.

Surefire Intelligence was incorporated in DE less than three weeks ago, according to online records, and describes itself as "a private intel agency that designs and executes bespoke solutions for businesses and individuals who face complex business and litigation challenges".
