No ban on 'The Accidental Prime Minister': Congress-led Madhya Pradesh government

Congress doesn't want 'The Accidental Prime Minister' banned

Directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte, the film is slated to be released on January 11.

The trailer shows that the makers of The Accidental Prime Minister have given great attention in making each of the characters resemble the real-life personalities.

Anupam Kher featured in two of the most dramatic and most amusing movies of 2018, Aiyaary and Baa Baa Black Sheep, respectively.

Anupam Kher wrote on twitter, "Ladies and Gentlemen!"

This evoked strong reactions from journalists and opposition leaders, with many asking if the BJP had financed the film to extract the electoral advantage in the election year. Starring Anupam Kher and Akshaye Khanna in key roles, the film is based on the controversial book by Sanjaya Baru.

Amid controversy over "The Accidental Prime Minister", the Congress leader on Friday said that they won't let the movie release in Madhya Pradesh without first watching it.

"The book is written by a man who was very close to the prime minister at that time". Talking about the same, director Vijay Gutte had earlier said in a statement, "Since the film is a story of the prime minister's office and belongs to the whole country, we want it to reach as far as possible and not just restrict it to the Hindi audience".

Manmohan Singh too was asked about the film, but he chose to not answer the reporter's question.

The film stars Anupam Kher as Manmohan Singh, the economist and politician who served as the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014 under the United Progressive Alliance. Suzanne Bernert is essaying the role of former Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Arjun Mathur will be seen as Rahul Gandhi, the son of Sonia Gandhi, Abdul Quadir Amin as Ajay Singh, Vimal Verma as Lalu Prasad Yadav, Avter Saini as Lal Krishna Advani, Anil Rastogi as Shivraj Patil, Ajit Satbhai as P. V.Narasimha_Rao, the former prime minister of India and Chitragupta Sinha as P. V. Ranga Rao, the Elder son of P. V.Narasimha Rao.
