Trump Rips ‘Crazed’ Mika Brzezinski for Homophobic Comment

Mika missing at Morning Joe after calling Pompeo ‘a wannabe dictator’s butt boy

"Are the pathetic deflections that we just heard when he appeared on Fox & Friends - is that a patriot speaking?"

In response to one user who questioned her remarks, Brzezinski wrote, "Totally agree with you -SUPER BAD choice of words".

MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski has issued an apology after being slammed online over comments made to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

"Why doesn't Mike Pompeo care right now?" "I'm asking, are these the words of a patriot?"

She apologized flippantly on Twitter after the show, after people protested.

Brzezinski's comments were immediately chastised online, including by a photographer who accused her of trying to "equate homosexuality with Mike Pompeo carrying water for the murderous regime in Saudi Arabia".

"But please allow me to say this face to face: The term is crass and offensive and I apologize to everyone, especially the LGBTQ community, and to my colleagues, for using it".

"She will probably be given a pass, despite their bad ratings. Congratulations to @RichardGrenell, our great Ambassador to Germany, for having the courage to take this disgusting issue on!"

Her comment was condemned by everyone from NPR's media reporter David Folkenflik to U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grennell.

Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) criticized President Trump's reluctance to condemn the Saudis, but Brzezinski was more focused on Pompeo's remarks. "Sexualizing gay people this way is created to control them & minimize our worth", he said. Saudi Arabia's foreign minister called it a "rogue operation". "I'm not the speech police", Hannity said.

In response to the apology from Brzezinski, Grenell replied via Twitter: "accepting apologies is important".

"I hate to expend energy defending Brzezinski, but she was using that problematic phrase in a different way".

If Trump is accurate that Brzezinski will get a pass, it's a drastic difference compared to the way NBC News handled now-former host Megyn Kelly's infamous "blackface" comment. Last year, the president attacked her on Twitter, calling her "low I.Q. Crazy Mika" and claiming that she had recently had plastic surgery.
