Ant McPartlin will return to television TONIGHT

Ant Mc Partlin and Declan Donnelly arrive at The London Palladium for Britain's Got Talent auditions

McPartlin pulled out of hosting last year's Britain's Got Talent halfway through and cancelled his Saturday Night Takeaway and I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! because he was taking some time out to focus on himself, the producers were unsure about whether he would return for the series.

The audience fell into a wild cheer as Ant walked onto the stage, before he added: "Hello everyone".

BGT fans will see the pair back together when the show hits screens later this year on ITV.

But now he's back with his telly partner Dec and the Geordie duo began filming for the 2019 auditions on Friday at the London Palladium.

Moved to tears, Ant said: "Oh god, I'm really, really emotional now".

Britain's Got Talent is expected to return to ITV this spring.

"I thought do you know what I would actually rather watch a show about a singing dog. Shall we crack on before I cry?"

Ant McPartlin will return to presenting work on Britain's Got Talent TOMORROW

He wrote: "Back together".

Introducing Ant, Dec said: "We've got a bunch of acts backstage who are eager to get out here and perform for you".

The 59-year-old said: "Even though Dec was brilliant, it still wasn't the same".

At the end of a year ago, Ant posted a tweet from the presenting duo's joint account suggesting he was ready to get back in the studio.

This Morning's Holly Willoughby stepped in McPartlin's absence for I'm a Celebrity, which still proved to be a ratings success in his absence.

He was later banned from the road for 20 months and fined £86,000 for driving while more than twice the legal drink-drive limit.

Simon and Amanda have been the judges of every season of Britain's Got Talent, while David and Alesha have been on the show since season six in 2012.
