The famous singer was placed in police custody on Monday morning, a source close to the investigation told the French press on Tuesday.

Chris - who has four-year-old daughter Royalty from a past relationship - shared a photo on Instagram which read "This B**** Lyin' " and added the caption: "I WANNA MAKE IT PERFECTLY CLEAR".

Chris Brown and two others have been detained in Paris in response to a rape allegation and drug charges, multiple outlets report.

In February 2009, he pleaded guilty to an assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna, for which he was sentenced to five years of probation and 1,400 hours of community service and counseling.

Brown's arrest comes one month after the singer was hit with criminal charges for owning a capuchin monkey without the proper permit in Los Angeles.

Early this morning, it was reported Chris Brown and two members of his entourage were being held in France due to rape accusations. He was arrested with two others on Monday, and interviews and other inquiries are ongoing.

The prosecutor's office said an investigation was continuing, while Brown's lawyer Raphael Chiche said his client "energetically" proclaimed his innocence and wanted to bring a defamation lawsuit. She denies the allegations and went as far as to say that the singer had nothing to do with the alleged sexual assault. After that, she said, Brown's bodyguard also raped her.

One of Brown's bodyguards was among the others detained, according to a Paris police official.

In 2017, Brown was accused of punching a photographer at the then-nightclub, AJA Channelside in downtown Tampa.
