Why was SpongeBob’s ‘Sweet Victory’ snubbed at the Super Bowl?

Adam Levine

It was supposed to be the exclamation point to Maroon 5's performance, but that came earlier in their set when Levine was joined by a drumline and local gospel choir on stage for the band's latest hit Girls Like You.

Levine's top, described by The Huffington Post as being from fashion designer Dries Van Noten, had a pattern on it that big game watchers reported owning on a variety of home goods. CBS, which aired that Super Bowl, was fined $550,000 by the Federal Communications Commission for the 2004 incident, but the fine later was overturned.

When Hillenburg died, SpongeBob fan Isreal Colunga, created a Change.org petition to have "Sweet Victory" performed at the Super Bowl halftime show in his honor.

"Why is it okay to see Adam Levine'[s] boobs and not Janet Jackson's", tweeted actress and host Aisha Tyler.

Others were looking for Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine to take a knee in solidarity with former National Football League star Colin Kaepernick whose protests against police brutality against black Americans have been excoriated by President Donald Trump. Many others flat-out refused to watch the game, as reported by The Washington Post.

Due to the NFL's actions, some celebrities, reportedly including Rihanna (via Us Weekly), took a stand against the organization by declining offers to perform at the halftime show.

Maroon 5, the halftime performer Sunday, teased a "Spongebob" cameo and delivered a brief reference to the "Band Geeks" episode.

He thanked the universe for the opportunity, his fans, as well as addressed his haters/critics by thanking them for "pushing us to do better".

"When we accepted the responsibility to perform at the SBHTS, I took out my pen and just wrote". "I have the same look.in a chair!" they said.

It appears Spongebob is making the most of being a fave of United States sports team across the country with the music video playing on the screens, while fans cheered and danced in their seats.
