Antonio Brown Still a Steeler After Refusing Trade To The Bills

Antonio Brown

If the trade gets completed, Brown will head to a Bills team with some promising young talent, though it's a franchise that's made the playoffs just once this century.

Late Friday night, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown went on Instagram and said in less than 24 hours we'd know who his new team would be. He was Pittsburgh's leading wide receiver from 2013 to 2017, but he finished behind second-year receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster's 1,426 yards last year. The Bills, the Steelers, and Drew Rosenhaus - Brown's agent - were trying to come to terms on a deal that involved negotiating the three seasons remaining on Brown's Steelers for base salaries totaling about $39 million. Although the Post-Gazette didn't list the three specific teams, it appears that one of them is definitely the Raiders.

The Steelers have reportedly been planning to deal Brown by the end of the week, but the Post-Gazette said there is now no deadline for a deal to be worked out.

With Brown now back on the market, the Raiders again become a team to watch for obvious reasons. With Derek Carr's future up in the air, it's unknown exactly who Brown would be catching passes from next season.

But in an interesting twist, Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal spoke about the situation and reported the Raiders "balked" at a new contract and opted to hold off on a trade.

MMQB reported Friday there are "very few options left" for Pittsburgh to trade Brown. Assuming that's the case, Oakland could make a push for the All-Pro receiver at a lower price, but that all comes down to what the Steelers are willing to accept at this point.
