Cleveland Browns: 4 benefits of trading for Odell Beckham

Madden simulation says Giants Odell Beckham trade was not good

The Browns will trade a first round pick, third round pick and Jabrill Peppers to the Giants for Beckham.

Beckham's name has been involved in trade rumors for the better part of two years.

Beckham became an National Football League superstar nearly instantly. In that interview, he also criticized quarterback Eli Manning, suggesting he was holding Beckham back.

Although General Manager, Dave Gettleman had said on multiple occasions that the Giants weren't going to trade their star receiver, reports were still circling about the Giants listening to offers, and apparently the Browns offer was too good to pass up. That was after coming to an agreement on a four-year deal worth up to $54 million with Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker and impending free agent Kwon Alexander. Their odds to win the AFC went from 12-1 to 7-1, behind only the Chiefs and New England Patriots (3-1).

According to Jeff Howe of The Athletic, however, the Giants are still out "having trade discussions" about the wide receiver. While it's nearly unfathomable to consider the idea of two star wide receivers being traded in one offseason, the chances of it happening may be heating up. This trade included the Giants getting guard Kevin Zeitler, who they actually received via the Olivier Vernon trade last Friday.

Beckham's tenure in NY was by turns productive and turbulent. His three-year stretch to start the season were by far his best when he totaled 288 catches (457 targets), 4,122 yards, and 35 touchdowns.

The Giants weren't shopping Beckham this offseason. The Giants made the playoffs with an 11-5 record in 2016, but Beckham and other team members were criticized for taking a party-filled trip to Miami days before their wild-card playoff game against the Green Bay Packers.
