"And that occurred very frequently".

A massive FBI investigation is just coming to light, and now, the justice department is charging 50 people, including actresses Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman.

"Huffman later made arrangements to pursue the scheme a second time, for her younger daughter, before deciding not to do so", the documents allege.

Loughlin's husband, Mossimo Giannulli, is also named in the court documents.

Court documents say an admissions consulting company in California set up by William "Rick" Singer was paid $25 million from 2011 through February 2019 to help facilitate the bribes. Loughlin and Huffman are among at least 40 people indicted in a sweeping college admissions bribery scandal. The evidence in the case reportedly includes cooperating witnesses, emails, and telephone call recordings.

A law enforcement source confirms to CNN that Huffman was arrested in Los Angeles.

CNN is working to get comment from the actresses' representatives.

- No students were charged, prosecutors said they were often unaware of the measures being taken on their behalf. He faces a count of conspiracy to commit racketeering.

CNN has reached out to all three defendants.

In Huffman's case, she and Macy allegedly made a "purported charitable contribution" of $15,000 to get one of their daughters into school.

Another defendant is a Greenwich, Connecticut, resident who is an attorney at a NY worldwide law firm.

The scheme began to fall apart in October past year when the IRS audited Key Worldwide and began to look into donations made by parents whose children were then admitted to USC.

The alleged scheme involved helping students cheat on entrance exams, as well as getting non-athletic students admitted on athletic scholarships. The cached site read that he is an alumni of Harvard University and "assists thousands of students in gaining admission to top American universities such as Stanford, Duke, Columbia, Dartmouth, University of Chicago, and many other notable institutions". CNN has reached out to all of the schools.

She was indicted for conspiracy to commit racketeering. She earned one of the coach's coveted spots on the team, and then admission to the school.

Prosecutors said Singer told one parent that he wanted to help the most privileged.

"We understand that the government believes that illegal activity was carried out by individuals who went to great lengths to hide their actions from the university".

Georgetown said Ernst has not coached there since December 2017 after an internal investigation found he violated admissions rules.

"In return for bribes, these coaches agreed to pretend that certain applicants were recruited, competitive athletes, when, in fact, the applicants were not".

To fulfill the plan, according to the criminal complaint, the parent "provided Singer with an exemplar of Parent 1's son's handwriting so that Riddell could imitate it when taking the exam in his place".

The court filing states Singer paid cash bribes to test proctors as part of the scheme.
